Putting Croatia on the cover is another step in Michelin's recognition of Croatia as a trendy destination, the director of the Croatian National Tourist Board's (HTZ) French branch, Marina Tomas Billet, said earlier this week, recalling that early last year Michelin for the first issued an illustrated guide of Croatia called Le Guide Vert - Croatie.
The guide was printed in 35,000 copies and like this year's atlas has been distributed in 70 countries around the world.
The Paris-based Michelin annually publishes 20 million copies of various editions, including city plans, road maps, atlases, and three tourist guide collections -- Le Guide Vert, Escapade and Neos.
Michelin and HTZ have been cooperating for years and the publisher's authors and photographers have visited Croatia several times and been acquainted with its tourist offer, Tomas Billet said.
She added Croatia was popular in other French media companies' editions as well, and voiced confidence the upshot would be a higher number of French tourists visiting Croatia this year.
