"I will be the first Mayor of Zagreb who was born in Zagreb," Miksic said at a press conference.
Miksic said that all large parties other than the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had asked him to head their lists, but that he refused.
Pressed by a reporter to name the parties that had contacted him, Miksic said that he had personally been contacted only by the Social Liberal Party (HSLS), but that his election headquarters had been called by members of other parties, even the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
Local elections are expected to be held in mid-May.
