Speaking about post-election coalitions, Djapic said that they would depend on the election results of both the HSP and other parties. What the party is certain about is that it will not consider forming coalitions with parties which consider coalitions with the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS), Djapic said.
Commenting on the start of Croatia's EU entry talks, Djapic said the HSP was not optimistic about the talks starting on March 17, although it sincerely wanted the talks to begin and was not against them.
"... We oppose the generally negative attitude towards the EU that has become prominent lately. We have friends in the EU, as well as those like the British who see Croatia in the EU only together with Serbia," Djapic said.
"If the talks do not start on March 17, the HSP will issue a declaration presenting its position on what should be done next, especially with regard to the issue of General Ante Gotovina," the party leader said.
Djapic described as intolerable what he called a public campaign to question Gotovina's morality, criticising the government for its failure to take a clear stand on the issue at the beginning, which he concluded had resulted in the current situation.
