Over 330,000 jobless Croatians in late February

ZAGREB, March 21 (Hina) - The number of job-seekers registered at theCroatian Employment Bureau (HZZ) came to 330,183 at the end ofFebruary, which was one percent or 3,245 persons more than at the endof January and 1.3 percent or 4,154 persons more than at the end ofFebruary 2004.
ZAGREB, March 21 (Hina) - The number of job-seekers registered at the Croatian Employment Bureau (HZZ) came to 330,183 at the end of February, which was one percent or 3,245 persons more than at the end of January and 1.3 percent or 4,154 persons more than at the end of February 2004.

According to the HZZ's latest monthly bulletin, February 2005 was the seventh consecutive month with rising unemployment.

Women accounted for 57.7 percent of the registered job-seekers.

According to the age criterion, persons above the age of 50 made up 20.4 percent of all the unemployed. Those between 15 and 19 years of age were at the bottom, accounting for 5.5 percent of the registered jobless persons.

According to education structure, those with three-year high school qualifications made up 40.4 percent of job-seekers, followed by those who with four-year high school qualifications (24.2 percent).

Persons with elementary school qualifications accounted for 22.7 percent and those without any educational background made up 6.2 percent of all the jobless. People with four-year university education or three-year college qualifications accounted for 3.7 and 2.8 percent of the jobless respectively.
