Municipal service official Milan Amizic said that 34 A 3 format black-and-white posters with Gotovina's photo were stuck on buildings along a street in the city centre by unidentified persons. The posters also included the message "No to surrender - no to sale".
The county police department confirmed the report about the posters, stating that it was the job of the municipal service to remove them.
General Gotovina is wanted by the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague and his non-extradition is the main obstacle to the start of Croatia's EU entry talks.
