Croatia's representative at this event is Gordan Jandrokovic, the chairman of the foreign affairs committee, the Sabor stated in a press release.
Addressing the conference, Jandrokovic expressed confidence that Croatia's entry talks with the EU would start on 17 March and pointed out their importance for the continuation of reforms in Croatia and for the stability of southeastern Europe. In this context he stressed that Croatia had met all requirements for the start of the accession negotiations, and that Zagreb was willing to continue with full cooperation with the Hague-based UN war crimes tribunal after the start of the talks, according to the press release.
Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean Claude Juncker informed the participants that the decision on launching negotiations with Croatia had not yet been made and that appropriate formulations were being sought to be put in a decision of the EU Council of Ministers so as to ensure a consensus among EU member-states and a positive decision.
