"Once, returning from negotiations in Geneva, he got the news about a slaughter of Croats. He was devastated. He said next time he wouldn't return to the country if the Bosnian army continued to mistreat the people like aggressor armies did," Izetbegovic was quoted by Nezavisne Novine daily of Sunday as saying.
"He knew of the Silos camp and tried to liberate the Serbs imprisoned in it. Our police told him arms had been found in their houses, but I think the main problem was that nearly all Bosnian Muslim men from Hadzici had been taken away by the Serb army, hundreds of them, and their families hoped for an exchange. After all, the Serbs came out of Silos alive, whereas no trace has been found of the Bosnian Muslims from Hadzici," he said.
