Speaking of the region's progress towards European Union membership, Busek cited Croatia as a membership candidate and Macedonia, which has completed the European Commission's membership questionnaire.
Busek expressed confidence that the Stability Pact would help the countries in the region to resolve crucial development problems.
On the subject of economic development, Busek highlighted the importance of construction of infrastructure, and said that the Stability Pact would invest 16 billion euros in the Southeast European road and railway network by 2015.
The conference adopted a final document defining priority measures to be taken to attract foreign investors and develop regional economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, energy and telecommunications.
