It takes only one country to oppose launching the talks for them to be postponed and currently there are a number of such countries, Wunenburger said after the opening of reconstruction works on the Bregana border crossing between Slovenia and Croatia.
Asked to comment on the optimism of the Ivo Sanader Cabinet about March 17 being the date of the entry talks, Wunenburger said it was the prime minister's job to be optimistic.
He went on to say that he was not concerned about the possible rise of Euro-scepticism in Croatia if the entry talks were postponed.
Wunenburger said a delay most likely would not affect the time of Croatia's admission to the Union. He recalled that Slovakia too had difficulties regarding the opening of entry talks.
