SARAJEVO, March 10 (Hina) - A session of the lower chamber of the Parliament of Bosnia-Herzegovina was cut short on Thursday as deputies decided to protest against the government for failing to promptly inform them of its decision to partly suspend free trade agreements with Croatia and with Serbia and Montenegro.

The suspension of the session was proposed by deputy speaker Nikola Spiric, who described the move as the need to respond to attempts by the Council of Ministers to "discredit the Parliament" through its activities.

The government was criticised for ignoring a request for a full explanation of the reasons for the suspension of the foreign trade agreements with the neighbouring countries.

Spiric later told reporters that the suspension of the foreign trade agreements was a serious matter that needed to be discussed by Parliament.

The leader of the strongest opposition Social Democratic Party, Zlatko Lagumdzija, sharply criticised the behaviour of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Adnan Terzic, particularly his statement that in choosing between the interests of Bosnian farmers and relations with the neighbours he decided "to destroy the country's relations with the neighbours".

"In any serious country this would raise the alarm," Lagumdzija said.

Members of the lower chamber of parliament requested three times today that Terzic submit a report on the suspension of the foreign trade agreements, but the government explained that it was not possible because Terzic was on a trip abroad and other members of the Cabinet had pressing engagements with representatives of the European Commission.
