According to a statement released by the Croatian ministry, Ambassador Simurdic emphasised the latest statements of Serbian President Boris Tadic and the foreign minister of Serbia-Montenegro, Vuk Draskovic, as well as other officials from Belgrade who believe that last Saturday's assembly in Belgrade at which the RSK government in exile was established is harmful and inappropriate.
Simurdic told Biscevic that that event was not only unacceptable for Croatia but it was also detrimental to the interests of Serbia-Montenegro in relation to the regional stability, Belgrade's efforts to join the European Union and develop good neighbourly relations with Croatia.
The ambassador conveyed Belgrade's assurances that it was continuing to support Croatia in its bid to enter the EU and start membership talks as scheduled by the European Council,
Biscevic and Simurdic agreed that it was in the joint interests of the two countries to continue dealing with outstanding issues and to promote good neighbourly relations in line with the Thessaloniki process.
In this context they highlighted the importance of last year's visit of Croatian Prime Minister Sanader and preparations for Serbian PM Vojislav Kostunica's visit to Zagreb.
