ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - At the end of last year, about 39 percent of Croatians above the age of 15 had access to the Internet, the GfK Croatian market research agency reported last week.

According to results of the survey called "The Internet and the Population in Croatia" which this agency carried out covering over 1,000 respondents above the age of 15, 1.21 million citizens (35 percent of the population) uses the Internet at least once a month.

Of those who have access to the Internet, 86 percent are connected to the Internet from home, and 30 percent are connected to it at work. About 16 percent of respondents say they go to the Internet when they are at school or at college, and also 16 percent go to the Internet when they visit their relatives or friends who are connected to it.

Only eight percent say they go to the Internet when they use services of Internet cafes or some other public facilities.

The GFK agency explains that the sum of the percentages is over 100 as some respondents say they use more than one place for their access to the Internet.

Of those who go to the Internet, 41 percent do it every day, and 31 percent of respondents say they go to the Internet several times a week. Five percent of respondents use access to the Internet only once a month.

At the end of last year, 47 percent of Croatian households had their personal computers, and six percent possessed laptops (portable computers).
