ZAGREB, Feb 24 (Hina) - An employee of the Croatian Foreign Ministry, Davorin Zagorscak, on Thursday lodged charges with the Office for the Fight against Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) against former Foreign Minister Tonino Picula and another five ministry employees, accusing them of unconscientious performance which made it possible for the then treasurer to embezzle over 10,000 euros from the Croatian Embassy in Belgrade in 2002. He also accused them of covering up this crime.

Zagorscak, who works as a minister-advisor in the ministry, pressed charges against Croatia's Ambassador to Israel, Ivan Del Vechio, Consul General in the United States Sanja Bujas-Jaruga, Consul-General in Germany Petar Uzorinac, and two employees in the ministry, Tatjana Kralj-Draganic and Mirjam Katulic.

The Office of the Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry told Hina that the Ministry had no official information on the charges and therefore it declined to comment on it.

Picula, who on Thursday attended the OSCE plenary session in Vienna, told Hina that Zagorscak was a man who had openly threatened other people, which was why Picula, in his capacity as Foreign Minister, had asked "the relevant department to withdraw him".

Picula added that Zagorscak, however, had not lost his job although a lady had pressed harassment charges against him.

USKOK today also declined to comment on Zagorscak's report.
