ZAGREB, Feb 24 (Hina) - Parliament resumed its twelfth session on
Thursday by debating a motion by the People's Party/Primorje-Gorski Kotar
Alliance (HNS/PGS) club of deputies to amend the Health Insurance Act in order
to bind the Croatian Health Insurance Agency to give insurees contracts
regulating their status and rights.Under the motion, the agency, as the insurer, should give insurees
contracts defining the rights and obligations of both sides.
The HNS/PGS deputies' club claims that most insurees do not know their
rights, how to acquire them or whom to refer to if they are being violated.
The motion has been endorsed by the opposition but opposed by the
government and the ruling Croatian Democratic Union, which says the issuing of
contracts would be complicated and expensive.
