Del Ponte's spokeswoman Florance Hartmann told Hina the chief prosecutor had sent the letters to the EU foreign ministers last week via the Luxembourg Presidency of the EU, but declined to comment on its content.
Zuzul said Croatia had answers to all claims the prosecutor made in the letter, stressing that the letter mentioned omissions made in 2001 when the ICTY indicted General Ante Gotovina and added that in the past period only speculations and assessments had been made and no arguments were presented.
"The letter will include all facts that Croatia must react to so as to demonstrate that it is meeting its obligations," Zuzul told Hina in Luxembourg.
The letter, which is being prepared by the Croatian Foreign Ministry, will be sent to the prime ministers of the EU member countries.
Last week, Carla del Ponte informed the Luxembourg presidency of the EU of Croatia's cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. The Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Jean Claude Juncker said after talks with del Ponte that a final decision on the start of accession talks with Croatia has not yet been made, but added the talks would start on 17 March on condition that general Gotovina was extradited to the ICTY.
