LJUBLJANA, Feb 14 (Hina) - The presidents of Slovenia, Croatia and
Italy, Janez Drnovsek, Stjepan Mesic and Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, may meet late
this spring as a sign of reconciliation over some historical questions, the
Slovene president's foreign policy adviser, Ivo Vajgl, told Slovene Radio on
Monday.Preparations continue but the exact date of the meeting has not been
determined yet, nor have the locations the three presidents are expected to
visit, Vajgl said.
Slovene media have recently reported that preparations for the meeting,
which is to symbolically close contentious issues from World Wars I and II, are
continuing despite claims that the time for the meeting is not right in light
of Slovene reactions to statements made in Italy last week on the occasion of
Remembrance Day for Italian Refugees from Dalmatia, Istria and the Slovene
coastal region.
