ZAGREB, Feb 11 (Hina) - A task force of the Croatian Parliament's HomeAffairs and National Security Committee, accompanied by members of theCouncil for the Civilian Supervision of the Security Services, visitedthe Counterintelligence
Agency (POA) headquarters in Zagreb on Fridayand examined some of the documents relating to the allegedsurveillance of five journalists.
ZAGREB, Feb 11 (Hina) - A task force of the Croatian Parliament's
Home Affairs and National Security Committee, accompanied by members of the
Council for the Civilian Supervision of the Security Services, visited the
Counterintelligence Agency (POA) headquarters in Zagreb on Friday and examined
some of the documents relating to the alleged surveillance of five
journalists.This was the first in a series of meetings at the POA headquarters
planned for the next two weeks during which the task force should examine all
relevant documents relating to the case.
The task force also plans to interview former POA director Franjo Turek,
agents allegedly involved in the surveillance operation and the journalists
named in the POA document entitled "Report on intelligence and media
manipulations aimed at discrediting Croatia", which Turek presented to the
President of the Republic and the Prime Minister.
Members of the task force declined to make statements about their
visit.
The task force was received by the new agency director, Tomislav
Karamarko, and his aides.
