According to unofficial reports from the national hauliers' association and the driver's employer, the 54-year-old Ivan Pavcevic died in the attack,

Ljubicic said that the ministry was still waiting for the confirmation of the driver's identity, which should be sent through diplomatic channels from Washington.

Zoran Sirocic and Marinko Les, another two Croatian truck drivers who were detained in US-run prisons in Iraq, have been released according to "first-hand information", Ljubicic said, adding that this report could not be officially confirmed yet.

The ministry official went on to say that the information on Sirocic's release came from his father. Sirocic was allegedly imprisoned in Falluja following a scuffle with US marines.

The Zagreb-based employer of Marinko Les reported to the foreign ministry that this truck driver had been released from the US military base at Al Asad. The ministry said it had no other details.
