The Office of the High Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina (OHR) in Sarajevo issued a statement after the meeting of the PIC steering board, which read that failure to fully cooperate with the Hague tribunal would be an obstacle to Bosnia's integration with the European Union and NATO.
The authorities of Republika Srpska now have a short period of time to prove that they are fully cooperating with the ICTY, political directors from the foreign ministries of PIC member-countries said in a statement, concluding that responsibility for arresting and handing over war crimes indictees lay mostly with the Bosnian Serb entity.
The PIC also agreed that the Dayton peace agreement remained the basis of peace in Bosnia-Herzegovina, as did the continued existence of the country's two entities.
The PIC warned the political leaders in Bosnia-Herzegovina and elsewhere who give irresponsible statements about the abolishment of Republika Srpska and urged them to focus on the implementation of the Dayton agreement and reforms needed for integration with Euro-Atlantic structures, reads the statement from the OHR.
The PIC also supported the reorganisation of the country's police force as well as measures which will enable Bosnia to join NATO's Partnership for Peace programme in the first half of this year.
