ZAGREB, Feb 3 (Hina) - A state secretary at the Croatian Foreign Ministry, Hido Biscevic, on Thursday paid an official visit to Greece where he held talks with top Greek officials on bilateral cooperation and the situation in the southeast of Europe, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Biscevic held talks with Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Yanis Valinakis and the ministry's chief political affairs director, Ambassador Elias Klis.

The Greek officials said their country would support Croatia in the process of integration with NATO and the EU.

They agreed that the EU and the United States should get more involved in the resolving of the remaining outstanding issues and in the establishment of lasting democratic stability in the region.

Biscevic and Valinakis said it was necessary to intensify bilateral cooperation and implement the Adriatic-Ionian highway project. Both officials underlined the importance of cooperation between countries in the region and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the statement said.

On behalf of Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, Biscevic invited Greek PM Konstantinos Karamanlis to visit Croatia in April.

Valinakis said that he would attend the inauguration of Croatian President Stjepan Mesic.
