"The government is not connected in any way, in the context of helping and hiding, with General Ante Gotovina," Grabar Kitarovic told Hina in a telephone interview from Brussels.
She and Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul held talks with the head of the European Commission's Directorate General for Enlargement, Fabrizio Narbas.
According to Grabar Kitarovic, Barbas presented the Croatian officials with the negotiating framework for Croatia, which will be officially adopted on 21 February.
One of the most important parts of the negotiating framework is the so-called suspension clause, which foresees the possibility of discontinuation of negotiations in case of continuing violations of EU principles, Grabar Kitarovic said.
The talks also focused on the so-called benchmarking.. It was agreed that after an in-depth analysis of the adjustment of Croatia's legislation with the EU's aquis communautaire, EU and Croatia would jointly define when the negotiations on each of the 35 chapters could be considered closed.
Zuzul and Grabar Kitarovic are currently in a meeting with EU external relations commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner. The meeting will focus on Croatia's negotiations on EU membership, scheduled to start on 17 March.
The Croatian officials were also scheduled to meet EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn, but the meeting was canceled due to Rehn's illness.
