The spokesman for Kosor's election team, Ratko Macek, said the team believed that two debates on HTV, along with debates to be broadcast by RTL and Nova TV, would "water down" the election campaign.
Macek told Hina over the phone that Kosor had agreed to participate in all debates on the national level, but with the same conditions for all media holding national broadcasting licences.
The two presidential candidates will have debates in the campaign for the second election round on Nova TV on January 12, on RTL on January 13, and on HTV on the last day of the campaign, January 14, Macek said.
Mesic's election team said that their candidate had agreed to all debates, including the one HTV had scheduled for tomorrow. They would not comment on the fact that Kosor did not want to participate in that debate.
During the campaign before the first round of presidential elections, Kosor said that she would not participate in any debates with Mesic until he apologised for calling her Suzana (a female name which in Croatian suggests sentimental behaviour) and for his statement that he did not want to open "a pate can for fear that Jadranka Kosor may jump out of it".
The two candidates met only at the final debate of all 12 presidential candidates in an HTV broadcast before the start of an electioneering ban.
