The Hlipo business optimism index, which was designed by Hendal and the "Lider" business weekly, was 114.5 points in November, which is 14.5 points up from the start of the year.
The most optimistic business sectors are transport and tourism, with their optimism indexes amounting to 124 and 122.5 points respectively.
Maruska Vizek of Zagreb's Economics Institute said that the transport sector, notably telecommunications and road and air transport, had seen a record, 9% growth of gross added value this year.
The optimism of tourist workers is based on the seasonal effect of Christmas and New Year holidays, Easter, and the peak summer season.
Somewhat lower values, which are nevertheless still marked by optimism, were reported in the manufacturing industry (116.5 points), and in the construction industry (115.1 points), while commerce was the most pessimistic sector (103.3).
The survey covered managers from 400 companies in charge of making business decisions in the production, construction, commerce, tourism and transport and service sectors.
