Revealing only the attorney's initials and year of birth, the Prosecutor's Office said on its web site on Thursday that the charges had been pressed for a breach of the confidentiality of court proceedings.
Krsnik dismissed the accusations, claiming that they represented an attack on defence counsel in the Sellotape case. "They are obviously afraid of me and are trying to intimidate me," Krsnik said.
"I didn't say anything disputable. There is a television recording of my statement and everything is clear," he added. Krsnik is representing Gordana Getos-Magdic, one of six people suspected of involvement in the murder of Serb civilians by the Drava river in Osijek in 1991.
Krsnik is charged with having relayed to the press in Osijek on December 11 a part of a statement by a protected witness although the investigating judge in the case ordered all participants in the proceedings not to disclose any facts or data they might obtain during the investigation.
The prosecution said that it would inform the Croatian Bar Association of the case.
