Sejdiu said that an international document on the final status of Kosovo should respect the desire of citizens of Kosovo for independence from Serbia, adding that independence would ensure peace, stability and economic progress.
Sejdiu said that he would wait for UN envoy Martti Ahtisaari to put forward a final proposal, which had been delayed until after parliamentary elections in Serbia, scheduled for January 21 next year. He expressed hope that a final settlement would not be further delayed.
Meanwhile, Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Qeku travelled to Moscow on Wednesday in a bid to win support from Russia as one of the big powers comprising the Contact Group for Kosovo.
