KANDAHAR/ZAGREB, Nov 26 (Hina) - Defence Minister Berislav Roncevic, who was on a visit to the Croatian contingent deployed within international troops in Afghanistan, on Sunday visited a Croatian soldier who sustained slight injuries two days ago.

"I have talked with him and his colleagues. He is feeling well, and he has been a bit surprised that the media reported about him having being wounded," Minister Roncevic told Hina.

The sergeant from the Croatian contingent of the NATO-led peacekeeping force in Afghanistan (ISAF) was wounded in Kandahar in the south of the country on Thursday. He was wounded in the buttocks by shrapnel from a rocket-propelled grenade. After receiving medical attention in a Kandahar hospital, the soldier was returned to the camp at the city airport.

The soldier, injured during a routine patrol, is the first Croatian serving in Afghanistan to be wounded.

The attack occurred during a visit by Defence Minister Roncevic to Afghanistan. The Croatian official is on the visit from 22 to 28 November, and will be received by Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Monday.

Croatia has been participating in the ISAF mission since 2003. The Croatian contingent has 150 troops deployed in different locations in the country.
