ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - A two-day international conference, "Discrimination and the Anti-Discrimination Policy", began in Zagreb on Thursday and will address discrimination as one of the most frequent forms of human rights violations and measures against it.

The plenary part of the meeting focused on the relationship between discrimination and power.

Zagreb lawyer Goran Mikulicic spoke about the establishment of the Zagreb Human Rights House, which is under way. This institution is expected to help upgrade human rights protection in Croatia, develop civil society and the rule of law.

The conference at the Central State Administration Office was organised by the Oslo-based Human Rights House Network and two members of the Zagreb-based House -- the Croatian Legal Centre B.a.b.e. and the Croatian Helsinki Committee on Human Rights.

Speeches were also delivered by Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic and Norwegian Ambassador Elisabeth Wallas.
