The president of the Independent Croatian Trade Unions, Kresimir Sever, told reporters after the GSV session that despite some good sides of the budget, such as deficit reduction and setting up a treasury, this union federation decided not to support the document because of long-standing dissatisfaction.
Sever stressed that the government had not yet on time included unions in the process of drawing up the budget, so the unions were able to voice their opinion about the wage growth and other rights only after the budget was already drafted.
The head of the Croatian Employers' Association, Emil Tedeschi, said employers supported the budget because it was well balanced.
"We are looking forward to the state support to small and medium-sized entrepreneurship and the education system," he said, adding the employers expected less taxes for Croatia's economy so that the competitiveness of this sector could be raised to a higher level.
