He told the press he did not believe the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) would abandon its agreement with the HSP under which parliament would not allow that Glavas be detained on the grounds of the gravity of the crime he is charged with -- war crimes against civilians in Osijek in 1991. Glavas is currently detained on the grounds that he might tamper with witnesses.
Djapic said that if the HDZ abandoned the agreement, cooperation between the two parties would be nearly impossible until further notice. He added that a big party like the HDZ must respect agreements.
Djapic said he spoke to HDZ leader and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader last week and that Sanader told him the HDZ would not be blackmailed in the Glavas issue. Djapic added he told Sanader that he would not be bought.
