ZAGREB, Nov 14 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Tuesday evening held talks with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt on bilateral relations, Croatia's efforts to join the European Union and the situation in southeast
Europe, according to a press release the Office of President Mesic issued after the meeting in Zagreb.
ZAGREB, Nov 14 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on
Tuesday evening held talks with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt on
bilateral relations, Croatia's efforts to join the European Union and the
situation in southeast Europe, according to a press release the Office of
President Mesic issued after the meeting in Zagreb. Bildt was quoted
in the release as saying that his country fully supported Croatia's admission
to the Union, and added that in the region Croatia should set a model in
meeting European standards and that this country had played and was playing an
important role in the region.
The Mesic-Bildt talks also focused on the situation in
Bosnia-Herzegovina and in Kosovo.
Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda
Grabar Kitarovic is scheduled to meet his Swedish counterpart on Wednesday.
Bildt arrived in Zagreb after he visited Sarajevo. During his tour of
the region, the Swedish official is to visit Belgrade, too.
