ZAGREB, Oct 16 (Hina) - Croatian representatives will inform the
European Commission in Brussels on Tuesday and Wednesday about the level of
adjustment of Croatian legislation on the judiciary and fundamental human
rights to European standards, the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
European Integration said on Monday. The judiciary and fundamental
human rights is the last of 33 policy chapters being screened for accession
negotiations with the European Union. The European acquis communautaire
contains 35 chapters but negotiations are not held for two.
The screening process began on 20 October 2005. Several more steps need
to be made before the accession negotiations actually begin.
Croatia has opened and closed negotiations on one policy chapter -- on
science and research.
