Vekic particularly stressed the role of the head of the former Yugoslav supreme command, Veljko Kadijevic, saying that he pressed charges for genocide and for encouraging the aggression war against Croatia against Kadijevic last year.
Vekic said Kadijevic was a typical war criminal, expressing conviction that he would not be tried even in absentia because of Croatia's obedience to the international community.
The former Croatian minister said Kadijevic today worked as an advisor of the US Army in Iraq on military issues, because he was experienced at warfare, adding that "he did not arrive in Iraq as an observer but as a war criminal from Croatia".
Vekic said that in June he asked the Croatian Chief State Prosecutor to launch proceedings based on his charges and President Stjepan Mesic to support that with his authority.
"Unfortunately, President Mesic did not respond," he said.
