The money will be transferred to the Adopt-A-Minefield organisation, which will double it and then use it for demining in Croatia, Western Union representative Kruno Valentic said.
Over 46,600 square metres of soil around the Tordinci elementary school is planted with mines, while another 44,000 landmines are planted on 103 square kilometres of Vukovar-Srijem County, Valentic said. He recalled that 45 people were killed and 96 were gravely wounded in mine blasts in the eastern county since 1991.
AmCham Croatia president Ivan Krznaric said this organisation raised USD140,000 for demining this year.
