ZAGREB, Oct 30 (Hina) - The Croatian Minister of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship, Branko Vukelic, met the Israeli Ambassador to Croatia, Shmuel Meirom, on Monday to discuss ways of boosting trade between the two countries and a forthcoming visit by a Croatian delegation to Israel.

Vukelic will be heading a delegation of the Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship on a visit to Israel from November 7 to 10, when he will be received by Deputy Prime Minister Eli Yishai, the ministry announced in a press release.

Vukelic is scheduled to attend a prime ministerial conference on export and international cooperation in Tel Aviv on November 8, and the next day he will address a meeting of Israeli business people, with special emphasis on possibilities of Israeli investment in the Croatian economy.

Vukelic said at today's meeting that Croatia was interested in attracting Israeli investors and companies from the energy and electrical engineering sectors.

Meirom expressed his support for all forms of promoting economic cooperation between the two countries, stressing that Vukelic's visit would be a key step in that process, the press release said.

According to figures from the Croatian Central Bureau of Statistics, Croatian exports to Israel amounted to USD2.6 million in the first half of 2006, an increase of 25 per cent over the same period last year. At the same time, imports from Israel went up 22 per cent to USD12.7 million.
