The elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina proceeded very well and contributed to the stabilisation of the region," the minister said referring to the October 1 general elections.
In this context he said that Germany could start withdrawing 850 troops that are deployed within EUFOR before this year's end.
We are planning a gradual withdrawal and it can start after the first consultations with NATO's leadership in early December, Minister Jung said.
We are slowly but certainly reaching the limits of our potential and I think it is fair to say when it is enough, he added.
In addition to Bosnia, Bundeswehr units are currently deployed in Kosovo with 2,900 soldiers, in Afghanistan with 2,900 soldiers, Kongo (740 soldiers), off the African eastern coast (330 soldiers), in Sudan and Ethiopia (40 soldiers) and off Lebanon's coast (2,400 soldiers).
