ZAGREB, Oct 26 (Hina) - Parliamentary deputies of an eastern Croatian regional party - Vladimir Sisljagic and Ivan Drmic - who are perceived in the public as close friends of independent MP Branimir Glavas, have severely criticised a decision by the Credentials and Privileges Commission to strip Glavas of immunity and to greenlight the request of an investigating judge to take him in custody on suspicion of war crimes in Osijek in 1991.

Sisljagic and Drmic of the HDSSB party described Thursday's decision by the parliamentary body as a farce and a politically-motivated decision.

During the commission's session in Zagreb today, Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks declined to comment on the latest developments.

In response to reporters' questions, Seks said: "I do not want to comment on moves made by either the legislative, the executive or the judicial branch of power."

After walking out of the session, Sisljagic said the request by the Zagreb County Court investigating judge for stripping Glavas of immunity so that he can be detained in the case known as Glavas and Fehir case was approved today also by those who on Monday described Judge Zdenko Posavec's request as contrary to the law.

Sisljagic also accused the Credentials and Privileges Commission chairman, Damir Sesvecan, of having made the conclusions of today's session before it was held, implying that he did it following orders from political circles.

The session of the commission, which was held in the Sabor headquarters, was marked by tight security measures.

The session was held behind closed doors, which prompted Sisljagic and a score of reporters to protest.

Security guards were standing in front of the door of the room where the session was being held.
