The employer on Wednesday sent the trade union a list containing the names of 24 workers who are to be sacked. However, the unionists warn that criteria for dismissal are not clear and that it is not clear why 24 persons in question have been selected for the lay-off.
The disputed list also envisages the dismissal of the only correspondents from Sibenik and Dubrovnik, which means that the daily's bureaus in those coastal cities will be closed.
The list includes 16 journalists and photographers, six employees in the marketing department and one worker in the information technology and the personnel department each.
The management has proposed a total of 1.25 million kuna as severance pay for those workers.
Both the management and the editorial staff have so far declined to comment on the situation.
