Police officials told a a news conference that the suspect, the 33-year-old Drazen Dorcec, who had no criminal records so far, confessed to the crime. It seems that his gambling debts forced him to commit this horrendous crime. The police found a bag with the Fina logo and 180,000 kuna in Dorcec's weekend cottage near his house in Kalinovec.
Two people were shot dead in Saturday's armed raid on the Fina office in Djurdjevac. The incident took place around 9am when Dorcec entered the office and started shooting, instantly killing a client who happened to be in the office and wounding a security guard, who later died in a hospital. The police launched an investigation and mounted a massive manhunt, sealing off the town and interviewing dozens of people.
It was also established that 300,000 kuna were stolen, but the police are still searching for the rest of 120,000 kuna.
