Croatian and Lithuanian troops begin joint exercise before joining Afghanistan mission

POZEGA, Oct 16 (Hina) - Members of the Lithuanian armed forces and Croatian non-commissioned officers on Monday began a field exercise in the Croatian army training centre at Pozega, 150 kilometres east of Zagreb, before joining the NATO-led peace mission in Afghanistan.

Pozega Training Centre Commander Alojz Tomasevic said that this was a great event because it was the first time foreign military personnel had come to Pozega for training.

The exercise will focus on safe driving on different surfaces, so over the next few days the Lithuanian and Croatian personnel will practise driving in rugged terrain since the configuration of the ground on Mount Papuk is similar to that in Afghanistan.

Tomasevic said that the Pozega Training Centre had a chance of becoming an international military training centre because the armed forces of other countries were also interested in sending their troops to Pozega for training.
