ZAGREB, Oct 11 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic on Wednesday received Anne-Marie Sigmund, the President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), for talks on cooperation between this EU advisory body and civil society in Croatia during the country's integration with the European bloc, the Croatian Foreign Ministry stated in a press release.

The minister said the cooperation would enhance the role of civil society in Croatia's efforts to join the EU.

Before the meeting with the minister, Anne-Marie Sigmund also held talks with representatives of the Croatian Economic and Social Council, the Office for Social Partnership and the National Endowment for the Development of Civil Society.

The EESC was set up by the 1957 Rome Treaties in order to involve economic and social interest groups in the establishment of the common market and to provide institutional machinery for briefing the European Commission and the Council of Ministers on European Union issues.
