Nearly 45,000 students will use the facilities including dormitories with a total of 5,500 beds. The complex, measuring over 900,000 square metres, will house six to eight colleges, scientific institutes, agencies and gyms, the minister said, describing it as the most important investment in tertiary education in the past 160 years.
He added that it is still not known how much this will cost, but the costs will be partly covered by funds from the government budget and a loan.
The presentation was attended by President Stjepan Mesic and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader.
