Speaking at a meeting with Vukovar County prefect Bozo Galic and Vukovar town officials, Bloche said that the French people wanted to see Croatia join the EU as soon as possible.
France's 'no' to the EU constitution is not a 'no' to EU enlargement, said Bloche, who was heading a delegation of the French-Croatian friendship group on a five-day visit to Croatia.
During its EU presidency in 2008, France will support Croatia's bid to join the EU, Bloche said.
The French delegation, which also included French Ambassador to Croatia Francois Saint-Paul and the secretary of the Croatian-French friendship group in the Croatian parliament, Jasna Boras Medjimorec, visited the regional OSCE office, where they discussed the rule of law and war crimes trials in Croatia.
The French parliamentarians and Vukovar County and town authorities discussed respect for minority rights, the rule of law and the functioning of ethnic communities, topics that were also discussed at a meeting with a body co-ordinating councils of ethnic minorities in Vukovar County.
The French delegation also laid a wreath at Vukovar's Memorial Cemetery in tribute to Homeland War victims.
