Mesic believes that Bosnian Croats have become disunited at Sunday elections

SPLIT, Oct 2 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said on Monday that different objections would be made regarding the result of Sunday's elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and that most objections by Bosnian Croats would refer to the election of the Croat member of the collective state presidency.

"Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina have become disunited, but they have not been disunited by someone else, they have done it themselves," Mesic said in Split, where he attended the opening of a renovated building of the city's Medical Faculty.

"Those who have won the majority vote according to existing rules should accept the results," he said, adding that whether those rules required change was a matter for discussion and that new rules could be adopted for the next election.

Asked about the possible increase in the number of Croatian troops in Afghanistan, Mesic said the Croatian army was participating in international peace missions mostly as an observer and was not enforcing peace.

"If so requested, our army can do it, because it has war experience, but this requires preparations and equipment. If we decide to take part in such missions, we can do it, we only need time," he said.
