The exhibition was opened by the Croatian Ambassador to the CoE, Daniel Bucan, after which the chairman of the CoE Parliamentary Assembly, Rene van der Linden, spoke of Croatia's sights and natural attractions.
Recalling that today was the tenth anniversary of Croatia's accession to the CoE, van der Linden said that what Croatia had achieved in the past decade could be an example and encouragement to other states.
He also recalled that this year he attended a conference in Dubrovnik on the Euro-Atlantic perspectives of Southeast Europe organised by the Croatian government, saying he had seen that Croatia was the leader in the region and could show others the way to the European Union.
Parliamentary Assembly Secretary-General Terry Davis said Croatia had signed all CoE conventions on protection of cultural heritage.
Also present at the opening were Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and the Croatian delegation due to attend this afternoon's meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly.
Sanader said that Croatia, by joining the CoE, had become a member of the European family and that its goal now was to join the EU and NATO.
