Speaking to reporters on Friday, the head of the IDS club of deputies, Damir Kajin, said that sending more soldiers to Afghanistan was risky and unnecessary at the moment.
Kajin said he was particularly concerned about reported division among military and state leaders, and warned that Croatia would have to spend 10-15 percent of its entire military budget on the mission.
He went on to say that Croatia should follow Slovenia's example and send weapons instead of troops to Afghanistan.
Kajin once again opposed the announced privatisation of the Pula-based Uljanik shipyard, saying that the state should keep control of the shipbuilding industry as a strategic sector.
He believes that up to 25 percent of Uljanik's shares should be sold to clients who order ships to prevent privatised shipyards from being returned to the state bankrupt, as in Poland.
