PULA, Aug 24 (Hina) - Malta's Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi began an official visit to Croatia on Thursday with a sightseeing tour of the northern Adriatic city of Pula and its historical landmark, an ancient Roman amphitheatre known
as the Arena.

an official visit to Croatia on Thursday with a sightseeing tour of the
northern Adriatic city of Pula and its historical landmark, an ancient Roman
amphitheatre known as the Arena. Mr Gonzi and his wife were hosted
by Mayor Boris Miletic and the head of Istria County, Ivan Jakovcic.
Speaking to reporters, the Maltese prime minister said he had good
cooperation with his Croatian counterpart Ivo Sanader, whom he is scheduled to
meet in Zagreb on Friday. He also noted that Malta, as a member of the European
Union, strongly supported Croatia in its efforts to join the bloc as soon as
possible.
