Osijek journalist Hedl sent a letter to the media on Thursday and to the Chief State Prosecutor on Wednesday, saying that he would not respond to a summons to testify before the Zagreb County Court, in an investigation into the involvement of politician Glavas in war crimes committed against Serb civilians in Osijek in 1991, even under the threat of arrest because of Glavas's media statements which most blatantly attacked his human and moral integrity.
Glavas said that Hedl's letter to the Chief State prosecutor was "a petty-political exhibition aimed at adding additional pressure on the court and the State Prosecutor's Office so that Glavas be placed in detention.
Every Croatian citizen, including Hedl is obliged to take the witness stand if summoned by the court, Glavas said. He also wondered who showed Hedl the list of witnesses given that the list was never made public.
