ZAGREB, Aug 6 (Hina) - Zagreb County Court investigating judge Renata Milicevic on Sunday evening ruled that journalist Domagoj Margetic be remanded in custody for two months. A three-member panel of judges is to decide about his transfer to the Hague war crimes tribunal at a later date, sources at the Zagreb County Court said.

The investigating judge told Hina that she heard Margetic after the court earlier in the day received documents from the Hague tribunal regarding the extradition request, and then ruled that Margetic should stay in custody for two months.

Margetic can appeal the detention ruling.

The composition of the three-member panel of judges to decide about Margetic's transfer to The Hague will be known probably at the beginning of next week.

If the panel fails to decide about Margetic's transfer in the next two months, his detention may be prolonged. The panel must decide about his transfer six months from the first day of his detention at the latest or turn down the extradition request.

Margetic was arrested last Friday in Slavonski Brod and taken into custody for 48 hours due to contempt of the Hague tribunal.

Earlier that day he refused to take at the Zagreb County Court an injunction from the Hague tribunal which reportedly bans him from publishing a list of protected witnesses in the trial of Bosnian Croat general Tihomir Blaskic. Margetic published the names of 102 protected witnesses in the Blaskic trial on his Internet portal via a US server, and the portal was closed down several days later at the order of the Hague tribunal.
