ZAGREB, July 18 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic on Tuesday visited the newly-opened offices of the Croatian Fraternal Union in the Croatian capital.

This fraternal benefit society, which was established in 1894 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has grown into an organization with tens of thousands of members and is the largest Croatian organization outside of Croatia.

During today's visit, Mesic said that Croatia did not need any more humanitarian assistance from its Diaspora, but Croatia and Croats abroad should strengthen their cooperation with an aim of promoting the national culture in the world.

The head of the Union, Zlatko John Caldarevic, thanked the City of Zagreb for allowing the Union to use those offices free of charge for its activities in Zagreb.

The head offices of the association are in Pittsburgh.
