Responding to accusations that the appointment of four members of Hina's five-member Steering Council was contrary to the law and professional standards, Macek said that the appointment of those members was in compliance with law and that all legal terms and conditions for the competence of the nominees were also met.
That is why the HDZ rejects the accusations made by the SDP as groundless, biased, and petty-political, the party's spokesman added.
On Thursday, the parliament appointed four members of the said council, after a majority of MPs voted in favour of nominees proposed by the Government.
However, the nomination of three candidates already caused a heated debate between the HDZ and the SDP that claimed that the ruling party was trying to appoint incompetent persons to the steering board of the national news agency so as to be able to exert influence on Hina.
